New Years' Eve is just around the corner, which means resolutions! Of all the many ways we want to better ourselves, year after year most of us choose the resolution of leading healthier lives. We're definitely getting on that trend this year with some help from our friends at DeliverLean. For the past week we've been trying out this amazing cooked for delivery meal plan and here's what we loved about it:

As health conscious women on the go, we jumped at the opportunity to have fresh, nutritious, already prepared and perfectly packaged meals delivered right to our homes. Like Christmas morning, receiving a cooler of food every other day is very exciting. The options are vast, and allow you to try things you may not have otherwise thought to, without the guilt, or gluten. Here's a sample of what we enjoyed:
DeliverLean offers a variety of breakfast items packed with protein and nutrients to leave you satisfied and energized all morning. The options are diverse and creative, reinventing your favorite restaurant dishes, but with a healthy, or veggie twist. Selections include an assortment of egg dishes, french toast, pancakes, oatmeal, waffles, and much more. Some of our favorites included the zucchini pancakes, banana almond nut pancakes, and the egg ratatoullie.
The zucchini pancakes were a play on potato latkes, savory and nutritious. They come with a piece of lean round ham for your morning protein fill, and a zesty salsa. Super easy to heat up, and loaded with greens! We recommend adding a dollop of plain greek yogurt for a creamy tang. We also really enjoyed the banana nut pancakes. Made with almond flour and walnuts, it's a Paleo lover's dream! Like real banana pancakes minus the carbs, but still super filling and satisfying. Three pancakes come with a cinnamon maple applesauce for dipping. Easy to reheat (toaster, microwave, or cooktop), and delicious to eat.
The salad options are great for grab-and-go to work or post workout. Nutritious and filling, these easily portable meals are packed with flavor and protein. DeliverLean recently started selling their prepackaged salads at Whole Foods as well, making it even easier to enjoy these delicious ready made salads.
On the paleo menu, we recommend the California Cobb salad, which includes raw mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumber, crumbled cheese and a generous portion of chicken with a light creamy ranch dressing. For a super lean and nutrient packed lunch, opt for the brown rice and kale salad, or the salmon "poke" bowl. The salmon was super fresh and lightly cooked to a medium rare temperature served atop a bed of spinach, crushed wasabi peas (which we love!), diced cucumbers, shredded carrots, grapefruit ponzu, pickled ginger, toasted nori and black and white sesame seeds. Try a splash of sesame oil, balsamic and a squeeze of lemon for a punch of flavor, or a handful of wasabi almonds for an extra crunch.
Other lunch options include sandwiches, stirfry, burgers, pastas and more, featuring a variety of proteins such as chicken, fish, shrimp, steak, pork, tofu, and beans. As with the breakfast items, each meal is surprisingly filling, and some were even a struggle to finish!
The dinner options offer a lot of food per portion. Though it’s condensed in a small container, once plated it's just as big, if not bigger, than restaurant portions. We really enjoyed the Caribbean rum glazed chicken with jicama “rice”, peppers, carrots and snow pea stir fry. The jicama ‘rice’ gave a really nice crunch to the chicken, while the raisins add a hint of sweetness. Lots of flavor packed into a low calorie count, just how we like! Another favorite was the steak with sweet potato mash and asparagus. The steak was nicely cooked (not dry!) and delicious. As in all the meals, the protein portions are large and well balanced with veggies.
So far, we're really loving this easy - and affordable - way to lose weight in 2018.
