Seminole Casino Coconut Creek’s NYY Steak Offers Decadence in a Decidedly Different Setting

NYY Steak, 5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek; 954-935-6699

We’ve all been there, we want something familiar, but we’re just tired of the same old, same old. Here’s the good news: there’s a hidden gem about 30 minutes south in the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.

NYY Steak, the Broward County outpost of the Yankees branded New York style steakhouse, features exquisite cuts, an in-house butcher staff, and a traditional menu that, wherever possible, takes a decadent twist (bacon creamed corn or duck-fat hash browned potatoes anyone?).

The main dining area is removed from the casino floor, and the dining room itself is appointed with mahogany and leather. The walls are emblazoned with signatures from Yankee greats and photos from their iconic moments.

The menu offers well-appointed options ranging from raw bar and salads to prime cuts sourced from an exclusive Chicago area butcher whose beef comes from the Midwest. The beef is then dry-aged in-house, and the in-house butcher is happy to offer a tour and explain what goes into making the meat unique. As was explained to us by NYY Steak’s in-house butcher, the Midwest prime beef that NYY Steak features has fantastic marbling that allows, through their signature dry-aging, a deeply rich flavor to come through the cuts. Strong, yet not gamey, the prime beef speaks for itself.

The staff is wonderfully attentive and happy to explain what makes each menu item unique. Following their guidance, we tried the Prime NY Strip and the Prime bone-in Ribeye, accompanied by decadent sides.

The bone-in Ribeye, the staff explained, is their signature cut. With the “tomahawk” bone, the staff has done everything from engraving birthday wishes, to marriage proposals, and gender reveals. Tonight, they spoiled our editor with her initials prominently displayed on the bone. This kind of cute, creative, touch shows that the staff at NYY Steak tries to find fun and new ways to present their fare. We’re not complaining, the food itself is exceptional, and if they want to keep finding ways to improve who could say no?

If you are looking for something new, fun, and worth venturing to a new locale, NYY Steak is sure to please.
